Indesit Washing Machines
Italian company Indesit have, along with Hotpoint, long been one of the big two players in the kitchen appliance market. Of course you don't get to this position in the market without having a good reputation for reliability, features and energy efficiency. Indesit have a wide range of washing machines from the basic 'does what it says on the tin' up to more expensive and feature packed models.
Range and Features
Indesit's newest range is called Prime and incorporates not just washing machines but a range of both freestanding and built in kitchen appliances designed to not just be attractive but also provide practical and functional solutions. This range comes in an array of different finishes to give you the exact look you are looking for.
On a more practical note, Prime washing machines come with a maximum capacity of up to 9 kilograms of laundry and a selection of easy to use displays and specialist programmes. Central to the efficiency of this range is what Indesit calls Smart Technology. This technology promises to be energy and water efficient while producing a high-quality wash; a sensor detects how much laundry has been put into the machine and adjusts water, energy and wash time accordingly. There is also a full range of normal and intensive options and wash programmes for cottons, synthetics and other materials.
Other features of the Prime range include a delay timer with which you can set the machine to start washing up to 24 hours in advance (digital models only). There is also a cool wash option which is more environmentally friendly using a lower temperature of 30°C and a slower spin rate of 800rpm.
One of Indesit's more recognisable ranges is the Moon collection. The models in this range have an iconic large, coloured door and circular control interface. As well as an attractive look, the Moon range comes with intelligent features designed to produce a simple yet efficient wash without too much hassle.
Like the Prime range, Moon washing machines adjust water and energy consumption based on the amount of washing put into the machine. Some of the other features, however, are more unique; there is a sensor within the drum which detects how much detergent is left in the water and will actually add in some extra rinse cycles if necessary to remove all traces of detergent on your clothes. This is obviously good for anybody who is more sensitive to washing detergent on their skin. Also, a load balancing system keeps vibrations and noise to a minimum.
Moon washing machines typically have a 6 kilogram capacity and come with a range of cycles and programmes to suit your needs. The control interface is designed with LED lights to enable you to set and monitor the progress of your chosen programme with ease and simplicity. Four main buttons will cater for the vast majority of laundry and produce great results; these buttons will set the machine to wash out either 60, 40 or 30°C for cottons, colourfast materials and delicates such as wool and silk items respectively.
Indesit also have a more basic range of 5 to 6 kilogram washing machines for those looking for a more simple and affordable option. These washing machines, although more basic than the Moon and Prime models, still come with excellent features and wash programmes. Some of the highlights of the more basic models are an Eco Time feature which uses less water and energy as well as a super-fast Express 15 minute wash for when clothes just need a bit of a spruce up. There are also specific wash cycles for jeans, wools and delicates, clothes needing an intensive wash and even shoes. With up to 16 different programs and an LED display, this less flashy range of washing machines is certainly not a poor relation to Indesit's more fashionable ranges.
Price
As a guide to what you may expect to pay for an Indesit washing machine, the Prime range will cost between £240 and £500, Moon washing machines will set you back between £230 and £400 while Indesit's more basic models begin at £190 up to about £280. As always, there always bargains to be had and it's a good idea to shop around for the best price depending on what you need.
