Bosch is not yet one of the UK market leaders in washing machine sales, currently slightly behind the market leaders Hotpoint and Whirlpool, however its history and experience of manufacturing high-quality goods is undeniable. Taking their expertise from their global domination of the power tools market, Bosch washing machines are reliable and well-made.

Bosch's array of washing machines vary in price and features across its four main ranges. Those ranges are called the Logixx premium range, Exxcel mid-range, Avantixx added value range and Classixx simple practical range. Here we take a look at these four main ranges to see what they have to offer:

Logixx Premium Range

The Logixx premium range is based upon three top of the range washing machines stacked with features such as high spin speed (1400 - 1600rpm), large capacity (7 – 8kg) and large LED information display giving details of programme progress, temperature, spin speed and time remaining. Another key feature of this range is called VarioPerfect; this technology is designed to maximise speed or energy efficiency with perfect wash performance every time. The models in this range typically cost from £430 to £620 and are available as either standalone or fitted models.

Exxcel Mid-Range

The Exxcel mid-range is made up of Bosch's next best three models. The washing machines in this range are also designed to be energy efficient and also water efficient in utilising ActiveWater technology which uses just six litres per kilogram of laundry. The spin speeds of these machines are slightly lower than the premium range, operating at 1200 to 1400rpm but they do still have a good capacity of 7kg. Pricewise, the washing machines in this range go for between £330 and £530.

Avantixx Added Value Range

The Avantixx added value range is comprised of just two basic models again having a load capacity of 7kg. One stop above the basic range offered by Bosch, the Avantixx range still features many of the options and technologies boasted by the more expensive models. Still very energy-efficient, these washers use be 3D AquaSpa wash system with cascade for faster water penetration, a Safeguard monitoring system which adjusts load distribution and programme settings to protect clothes. Priced between £275 and £370, this is a very popular range from Bosch.

Classixx Simple Practical Range

The Classixx simple practical range is Bosch's most affordable and basic range of washing machines. Made up of four models (including the only black washing machine from Bosch), load capacity varies from 4.5 to 7kg and despite being the least energy-efficient in Bosch's selection, still have an A rating for washing and B when spinning. This simple range still has plenty of program options for different types of clothing and LED information display. If you're looking to buy a model from this range, expect to pay between £ 195 and £350.

So as you can see, there are plenty of different models to choose from, and with their most affordable model costing just under £200, there is an option to suit every budget. Of course, as with pretty much any home appliance, generally speaking you get what you pay for in terms of added extras and features. However, that is not to say that the cheaper models from Bosch are lacking in features which will ensure a good wash. The most important settings for any washing machine are to do with its ability to watch different kinds of clothing; a delicate wash for delicate materials, a sturdy wash for tough stains etc.

All Bosch models come with the various washing settings you would expect and use on a daily basis. At the top of the range however, there is the bonus of some extra technologies such as dedicated temperature control and extra specialised wash settings. When deciding on which washer to buy, you should properly decide whether or not you need this extra technology, or whether you can get by on a washing machine which will at least do the basics.

Bosch washing machines are popular with consumers because of their reliability and excellent energy efficiency. Having said that, if energy efficiency is not your top priority, many models have reduced washing time modes which use more energy but guarantee a faster result.
